My New Year Resolutions
65New Year Resolutions Related to My Online Writing
Reading through RedElf’s Top Ten New Year’s Resolution reminded me of my habit (when I was still young) of making my New Year’s Resolution. And what a list they were – lose weight, stop daydreaming, stop procrastinating, study harder, get a boyfriend (LOL), graduate with honors, etc., etc.
After I graduated from college, the New Year’s Resolutions stopped. Don’t ask me why, I just stopped preparing them. Maybe because a lot of them go unfulfilled anyway, so I no longer wanted to pressure myself into making a list and then breaking what I wrote in that list. But for this hub, I decided to make another New Year Resolution list. But this one is different. This is my New Year Resolutions related to my online work or writing or freelancing (whatever you want to call it).
Why online work? Why not a list of resolutions related to my whole self? Well, for one, it’s more doable (which is really what the list should be all about). For another, this is one area which I really need to improve in my life and some of our plans in 2011 hinges on this online work (what those plans are? Secret!) Still another, well, I have already made some resolutions like two months ago and I just want to add on to those resolutions.

So, what are these New Year resolutions? Here they are in no particular order:
Increase My Online Earnings. I once asked Mark Knowles if a $1,000 per month earnings online is possible within one year. His reply – six months if I applied myself to it! Well, honestly speaking, the six months is not feasible for someone like me who has a full-time job. But the one year? I think it’s really possible. So my first resolution – increase my earnings to $1,000 per month in one year’s time.
Start My Own Blog. I started a forum thread a few days ago if I need to start another HubPage account or start a new blog. The advice I received was to start my own blog. Right now, I’m just looking if I can afford one (cost may be around $10 a month but that’s already like Php500 here, not really a small amount). I actually have a blog of my own but it’s a blogger.com account. Hopefully, by next year, I’ll have one on my own.
Write More Stuff…. in other topics. As I said in a previous hub, I write mostly accounting stuff. For this coming year, I can still see myself writing more on accounting and auditing (I don’t mind, they bring in the dollars). But I’d like to see myself write more stuff in other topics. Oh and of course, write more hubs in HubPages (hopefully reach 200 hubs by next year), as well.
Expand My Online Services. Other than writing, I just want to try my hand on online researching and data entry, even, possibly, online bookkeeping or a call center. I also want to get some people to assist me. Nothing concrete on this one yet but we’ll see.
Learn and Apply SEO and Backlinking. This one I also put in my previous HubPage Resolutions but this resolution concretizes things. Once I hit 100 hubs by end of this year (this is my 79th hub so I need to crank it up), I’ll start to trim down the number of hubs I write to 2 per week. Instead of writing more hubs, I’ll learn more about SEO and backlinking and apply what I have learned in my current and future hubs as well as in my planned blog.
Write for Other Sites. Like ezinearticles, or other online sites to promote my blogs or hubs. Another we’ll see plan.
Lastly, have fun. Writing and earning online are serious stuff I know, but heck, there still should be some fun in this right? So for my very last resolution, I’m planning to have fun while writing and earning online.
So there you have it, my New Year Resolutions for my online writing. Not quite an easy list right, but hey, I have to start somewhere. The more difficult it is, the more I’ll try harder to reach it. Wish me luck and cheers!

I have lots of New years resolution too, I wish I could nail them this year,,,You too emievil!! Happy New year to you and your family! Maita
6 months really? *sees dollar signs* That would really be awesome if I could achieve that, as it is one of my goals. You have the idea, Emie, and there's no doubt in my mind that you'll succeed.
Have you thought about writing for ezine articles? I just started, but plan to write more as it's a great place for backlinking. Granted, it might take a month to get your initial article to get approved, but after that, it only takes a week: a month will come regardless if you join them or not :)
Thanks, Emie and good luck!
Thank you for your interesting and informative hub.
Here's to your not only keeping but exceeding all your New Year's resolutions. I think a lot of hubbers have the same resolutions as you have - they may just not have got round to putting them down on paper.
As long as you remember to have fun you will be able to stick to these resolutions with ease.
I think you should make a commitment to publish a hub each time you manage to achieve one of these goals so that we can all see if you are staying on track.
Good luck.
Good luck on your new year resolutions,I think they are all doable... it takes a lot of patience writing online but it pays.... it took me 6 months to get my first pay check and since then i get one each month and once your hubs aged then it gets high on the eyes of google, which means more hits. This year is a good year for me - I get about $150 to $250 a month, it pays my electricity bill and a few more extras.
Thanks for sharing your resolutions emievil. I hope you will accomplish everything on your list in record time. We, the hubpages community, will be cheering you on as always.
Love your new year resolutions!
You are on your way to making big money online.
Being in a full time job is in fact a plus point towards making big money online quick. No, I haven't lost my mind yet. I have noticed that who are doing a full time job earn more than the ones who start making money online without a job. There are a couple of main reasons for this which I can't tell rite now, maybe I'll write a hub on this phenomenon. :)
I almost forgot to mention above that these full time workers ultimately quit their job after making much more than their salary for a couple of months.
Come on Emie, start your own blog quick. Start it on the first day of the new year. :)
I am happy with my hosting and they charge me $85 once a year.
I wish you success in all your wishes Emi, good luck !
You make that much online because you do that much, too. I can't imagine me in your shoes. I wanted to make something out of my retirement days so I experimented on HubPages. My one and only New Year's Resolution? Find out what's in store for me here.(LOL) Good work, Emie. Stay at the top longer.

So it's that time of the year for lists like this! Anyway, I have no advices for you as I'm terrible with making resolutions much more keeping to them! So I will opt instead to rally you into success and take part in your success when it happens vicariously. So we'll start now - ahem - GO GO GO! Will bring the pompoms next time around :D
